What Causes Cellulite?
There are many common misconceptions about the cause of cellulite, but understanding what causes cellulite will help you understand how QWO works as well.
Cellulite is not the result of excess fat or poor muscle tone. Many believe that exercise and weight loss can help remove cellulite, or that the appearance is the result of being overweight. This is untrue, and in fact, many lean women will have cellulite. This is because cellulite is actually caused by connective tissue bands made of collagen that attach to the skin and run through the fat layer of areas like the buttocks and thighs. When these collagen bands are stretched taut, they can pull the skin down and create a dimpled appearance. Because the connective tissue bands run through the fat layer, gaining weight may make cellulite more prominent, but losing weight will not resolve the dimples entirely.
Who Gets Cellulite?
Women are much more likely to experience cellulite than men. This is because mens’ connective tissue runs in a crisscross pattern rather than vertically. Women are also more likely to see cellulite as they age, when the skin becomes thinner and dimples or other texture can become more pronounced. With this in mind, women may have cellulite regardless of their body type, size, or age.
How Does QWO Work?
QWO works using enzymes which break down the collagen found in connective tissue bands that cause cellulite. By breaking down these collagen bands, QWO relaxes them and reduces the tension that causes dimples. After the collagen bands are broken down, the fat will naturally redistribute below the skin for a smooth appearance, effectively removing cellulite.
What Can I Expect During QWO Injections?
QWO is administered through a simple injection, and the treatment is intended for the buttocks. During your injections, the treatment area will first be marked to determine the appropriate injection sites. Topical numbing cream may be applied, but is not always necessary. After thoroughly cleansing the area, the injections can be made. This process typically takes no more than about 10-20 minutes to complete.
Most patients will require multiple injection sessions to achieve their goal results. On average, patients will have three total sessions, scheduled at least 21 days apart. You can expect your results to gradually emerge over the course of your QWO sessions, with final results visible a few weeks after your last injection session.
What Side Effects Will I Have From QWO?
QWO injections result in minimal side effects and require no downtime. You will likely notice some soreness and may see slight redness or swelling at the injection site immediately after your appointment. Bruising is also common after QWO injections, and is typically the most prominent side effect of the treatment. For this reason, it is recommended that you avoid QWO injections within a few weeks of any events which might expose the treatment area, such as beach vacations.
