Rhinoplasty for Men

One of the most defining features of a rugged, masculine look is the nose. It balances the profile and creates the chiseled look most men dream of. Not every man is born with their ideal nose, however, or likes the way it looks after an injury. Rhinoplasty is an excellent option for changing your nose and bringing it into harmony with the rest of your face with the help of a board certified facial plastic surgeon. A former rhinoplasty patient himself, Dr. Diktaban offers some of the best results in the Manhattan area for men looking to achieve their ideal masculine look.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a facial plastic surgery technique that improves the nose’s shape, size, and function so that it’s in better proportion with the rest of the face. It’s one of the most popular facial procedures available for men because it can greatly enhance the masculine profile with the right techniques. Dr. Diktaban not only specializes in facial cosmetic surgery, but also completed a residency in ear, nose, and throat surgery and is a leading rhinoplasty surgeon in Manhattan. Having undergone rhinoplasty himself, Dr. Diktaban has some of the greatest rhinoplasty experience in the area— and experience is key when it comes to achieving the masculine, sculpted results you want.

Rhinoplasty Candidates

Men who can benefit most from rhinoplasty are those who have a disproportionate nose or a nose that has suffered from an injury, causing difficulty breathing or an undesirable look. An effective rhinoplasty procedure can address both the cosmetic and anatomical functions of the nose, making it a good option if you have a deviated septum or anatomical concern that hinders breathing. In either case, you should be in good overall health and able to undergo surgery, so Dr. Diktaban will discuss your health history during your private consultation.

What Happens During Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Diktaban can perform your rhinoplasty at our state-of-the-art Manhattan office. Rhinoplasty can be performed using one of two different incision types, and Dr. Diktaban will discuss the right one for you during your consultation. Using one of two incision types, Dr. Diktaban can access the underlying structures of the nose, sometimes using VAPOR Nose® technology, and make your desired changes.

Closed Rhinoplasty

This type of rhinoplasty is most effective when paired with our VAPOR Nose® technology. It requires incisions within the nostrils so that any scarring is completely unnoticeable. Once the incisions are made, Dr. Diktaban can make changes to reduce a hump or straighten the septum.

Open Rhinoplasty

Incisions for an open rhinoplasty are made across the strip of skin between the nostrils, or columella. Dr. Diktaban also can utilize incisions inside of the nose within the natural contours of the nostrils. This allows the nose to be lifted for direct access to the underlying bones and cartilage which can be manipulated into a new, flattering shape. With this technique, Dr. Diktaban can perform more technical steps like cartilage grafts or more extensive correction.

Results and Recovery

Rhinoplasty comes with a longer recovery than most facial cosmetic procedures, so it’s important to be ready to take downtime. Most men need at least one to two weeks away from work, but this can be longer if you work a physical job. You’ll experience bruising and swelling for around 5-10 days, which can be managed with prescribed medications. Dr. Diktaban will provide a list of aftercare steps, which includes avoiding wearing glasses, exercising, and blowing your nose. It can take a few months for most swelling to subside, but it can take several more months before you see your final results settle in. However, you can enjoy a more balanced, harmonious nose and a masculine profile with our best rhinoplasty techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do nose jobs last forever?

In theory, your rhinoplasty results should last for many years to come. However, factors like injury or small changes in your facial profile as you age can affect your results.

How long is nose job recovery?

It usually takes about 6 weeks for the bones of the nose to heal following nose surgery. However, it can take up to a year to see full results.

How should I sleep after rhinoplasty?

Following rhinoplasty, patients are asked to sleep resting on their backs in an elevated position. Pillows or a recliner chair can help with this.

Are more men choosing to have a Rhinoplasty Operation?

Present day statistics show that there has been a big jump in men selecting to have there noses reshaped. Social media, improved techniques and understanding male aesthetics have all contributed to this increase.

Are Mens aesthetics with respect to the nose different than female aesthetics?

The aesthetics are usually different between reshaping the nose of a male versus a female. In general, female noses lend themselves more to increased definition and highlighting.

Is there a difference in nasal healing between men and women?

There is no difference in nasal healing between men and women. They both involve reshaping the nasal cartilage and nasal bones as a reshaped framework and then allowing the skin to drape over that new framework.

If the outside of the nose is straight, can the inside be crooked?

It is not uncommon to see a straight nose on the outside but a crooked nose on the inside. That is why it is important to always examine the inside of the nose, as well as, the outside.

If the outside of the nose is deviated to one side, is the inside of the nose also deviated?

There is a familiar phrase related to the nose: where the septum goes, so goes the nose. Therefore, a nose that is deviated on the outside, usually correlates with a deviated nose on the inside. Surgery can address both the outside and inside deviations.

Can a male have a change to reshape the outside of the nose and also improve the inside of nose because of nasal obstruction at the same time?

The simple answer is Yes! One nasal operation can be performed to both the outside and the inside of the nose to address the cosmetic and function of the nose, respectively.
