Dr. Theodore Diktaban is a board-certified plastic surgeon and leading rhinoplasty surgeon in the Manhattan area. He is pleased to offer several rhinoplasty options to meet each patient’s unique goals and treatment needs. These are your options for rhinoplasty surgery at our New York City office.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, also known as cosmetic nose surgery or a “nose job,” is a plastic surgery procedure that improves the shape, size, and function of the nose. Rhinoplasty can correct many issues, including a dorsal bump, bulbous nasal tip, flared nostrils, wide nose, and over-projection of the nose. The goal is to create more harmony between the nose and the surrounding facial features for a balanced, proportionate look.
Your Options for Rhinoplasty in NYC
Many patients are surprised to know that there are numerous options available for their rhinoplasty surgery. At our office, Dr. Diktaban offers the following surgical and non-surgical procedures:
Open Rhinoplasty
Open rhinoplasty is a traditional rhinoplasty approach that involves surgery under general anesthesia. This type of surgery is often required for patients needing extensive changes, such as reducing the width of the nose or altering its shape. During the procedure, the skin will be lifted from the nose to access the underlying nasal cartilage and bone. An incision will be made at the base of the nose in the strip of cartilage between the nostrils; the scar will be minimal and easily concealed. Dr. Diktaban will carefully reshape and remove enough bone and cartilage to achieve an aesthetically pleasing look while maintaining the structure and function of the nose.
Closed Rhinoplasty
A closed rhinoplasty is another type of traditional rhinoplasty surgery, but it is not as invasive as an open rhinoplasty. During the closed rhinoplasty procedure, the nasal structures will be accessed through the nostrils so there is no visible scarring. This approach allows Dr. Diktaban to reduce a nasal bump or straighten a deviated septum. Fixing a deviated septum will simultaneously improve the look and function of the nose since the airways will be opened up.
Preservation Rhinoplasty
Preservation rhinoplasty is an innovative technique that focuses on preserving as much nasal bone and tissue as possible to reduce recovery time and create long-lasting results. Rather than removing pieces of cartilage, the tissues are manipulated to fix a dorsal hump or reduce the projection of the nose. A deviated septum can also be fixed with this approach.
VAPOR Nose®
VAPOR Nose® is a non-surgical preservation rhinoplasty technique developed by Dr. Diktaban. Instead of using excision to remove nasal tissues, radiofrequency technology is used to target excess cartilage on the bridge of the nose. This technique is mainly used to lower the nasal bridge or fix a dorsal hump, creating a straighter nose.
Liquid Rhinoplasty
Liquid rhinoplasty is another type of non-surgical rhinoplasty that uses fillers to temporarily improve the shape of the nose. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Restylane Lyft and Revanesse Versa, and/or Botox may be used, depending on your unique concerns. By injecting filler around a dorsal hump, the surrounding skin is lifted to give the nose a smoother, straighter look. Botox can be injected into the bottom of the nose to gently lift a downturned tip. Results will last 6-12 months.
